'Ciudad y Ciudadanía' - Cities and Citizenship
Mary anne, Anna and Lula spent three weeks in three cities in Colombia in April running workshops with secondary pupils in collaboration with teams of staff and students from Universities in Bogota, Medellin and Manizales.
Fading Boundaries Book
In 2005 Swanlea Secondary School received funding from the Big Lottery to run an extensive art and literacy project with Cloth of Gold. The project ‘Fading Boundaries’ involved students from Swanlea Secondary School and two of their feeder primary schools - Kobinazrul and Stewart Headlam - exploring the fading of boundaries between different cultures interacting side by side, extending and expanding.
Pupils engaged in a range of creative activities investigating their own experience of living in the area, their different cultural backgrounds and interacting with the diverse cultural influences that they are in contact with.
The outcomes of the project, which have now been presented in a book, are young people’s vibrant response to their modern life and present day reality where the boundaries between language, cultural traditions and time begin to fade.
